The Deputy Program Officer (DPO) will assist the Supervisory Program Officer with the management of the Program Office. Responsibilities include assisting the supervisory program officer with strategic planning, program budgets, policy formulation, and interacting with officials.

POSITION ELEMENTS:
Reporting Responsibilities: The incumbent will work as a full member of the Program Office and will be supervised by the Supervisory Program Officer who will provide general guidance.
Supervisory Controls : The Deputy Program Officer is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative. Such initiative is critical to the success of the assignment; however, the actions and decisions of the Deputy Program Officer will be in collaboration with the Supervisory Program Officer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
This is a senior USAID/Liberia position. The successful candidate must be sufficiently experienced to understand the needs of the Work in
Education: An advanced university degree in a development-related field with course work in a research/evaluation methodology, (e.g. Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology or relevant Social Science field, etc. A minimum of MA,
Work Experience: A minimum of seven years of experience in the design, management and /or implementation of international development activities. A combination of activity design and management skills is desirable. Familiarity with technical issues in public health, democracy, education, environment or economic growth is a plus
Technical Knowledge: At least 3 years of experience working on strategic management, results frameworks and performance monitoring and measurement.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to produce well-written documents under tight deadlines. Demonstrated interpersonal, team work and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience supervising and mentoring employees in a cross cultural context. Must be able to work in a highly demanding environment and capable of handling tasks with varying deadlines. Must be able to communicate complex policy and programmatic issues in a manner understandable by laypersons without oversimplifying. Must be able to maintain and adhere to high standards of professional conduct. Versatility in the use of computers, especially Word and EXCEL is a must. The ability to plan and organizes is very important.acquisition and assistance is also desirable.
C ommunication skills: Excellent English writing and editing skills, as well as an excellent ability to process information from a wide variety of sources into cohesive, polished documents are highly desirable; there is no requirement for local language proficiency
